[Abstract]  Floral initiation and development in the angiosperms is the essential step on which the yield of the plant depends. Sometimes external climate or any abiotic stress hinders the floral initiation and ultimately affect the plant yield. Hence, in vitro floral induction and development can help to overcome the external climatic factor. Furthermore, the protocol for in vitro floral induction in the parasitic angiosperm like Cuscuta reflexa has not been reported yet. We have standardized the protocol for floral induction in the parasitic plant Cuscuta reflexa. Hydroponic Culture of ‘Micro-Tom’ Tomato

[Abstract]  We use ‘Micro-Tom’ to study tomato fruit ripening and development mechanisms. ‘Micro-Tom’ is suitable for cultivation and experiments due to its small size of 10 to 20 cm in height and short life cycle of 3 months. There is also an abundance of publically available information on ‘Micro-Tom’ including EST, full-length cDNA clones and transcriptome data. ‘Micro-Tom’ plants are grown in hydroponic culture under fluorescents using Arabidopsis cultural shelves in greenhouses or plant rooms to get data with reproducibility for transcriptome and proteome analyses. [Abstract]  Potassium is an essential element in plant growth and has an important role in regulating cell water potential and turgor in osmotic regulation. Potassium content in plants is high compared to trace elements, however, it is difficult to measure a relatively small change of potassium content in the large total. Here, we describe a procedure for measuring potassium in Arabidopsis that is easy to handle in preparative scale and avoids contamination.
